PMO Advisory specializes in project management and how it supports strategic business execution. We are “one inch wide” (i.e. project management) and “many feet deep” (i.e. program management, portfolio management, PMO, etc.) We firmly believe that project management can be a powerful force to drive greater efficiency of execution and effectiveness of realizing strategy.
Our team is composed of only highly qualified consultants, many with multiple certifications and deep experiences. They are leaders in the field providing both consulting and training services. Our CEO is known in the field for his work, including publications in professional journals such as Harvard Business Review and his volunteer work with the Project Management Institute (currently serving as a chairperson for the PMI’s Standard Committee developing the next edition of the Standard for Portfolio Management.)
Here is a broad overview of our experience:
- Project Management – This is the core of what we do. We define projects as “important initiatives that is worthy of extra management attention because of three C’s (complexities, constraints, and changes).”
- Program Management – This is an extension of project management toward bigger initiatives that contain a group of projects. Program management is important to achieve synergy of outcomes among the projects and economy of scale and scope.
- Portfolio Management – This is a vital discipline for organizations with intense project environment in which strategic alignment, prioritization, governance, resource management, and risk management are truly important.
- PMO, PgMO, PfMO – For organizations striving to create a consistent and sustained capabilities for project, program, and portfolio management, then building the corresponding central offices become ever more important. Within the world of PMOs (for short), there can be many variations including Enterprise PMO (EPMO). EPMO can serve as an unbiased arbiter of organizational resources, typically reporting straight to the top.
- Risk Management – This discipline can be a part of all of above, and the focus is on managing surprises. In industries and organizations that confront high degrees of dynamism, the ability to tackle uncertainties and exploit opportunities while mitigating threats can be an important strategic advantages.
- Organization Change – Complimenting all of the above disciplines, this discipline is inward looking to enable high degree of acceptance and adoption within the organization. Organization change involves with communication to inform and explain why, navigating change for clearer roadmap, and enhancing existing or even creating new cultures to support the organizational
- Strategic Business Execution – This is actually the broadest field that arguably stands above all of the disciplines above. Strategic business execution concentrates on achieving business execution excellence that is aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, value, and principles
